Climate Camp and Yoree Sovereignty Kattung kabaring Yoway!

The Kattungkuba Birriwaltja (Kattung Sovereign Congress) would like to invite Yoree (indigenous) and Yoreekuriyan (non-indigenous) presenters, speakers and supporters to attend the Camp for Climate Action.

The Camp for Climate Action will be six days of inspiring workshops & peaceful direct action. The camp will be held on the Land of the Pambalong Clan of Kattung, at Wickham Park, Newcastle, from 10th to 15th July. Other accommodation will be available if you are unable to camp. Community and Yoree activists, community groups, families, environmental educators, students and academics from all over Australia will come to take direct action together and participate in a range of informative, practical and participatory forums and workshops.

On 30th March 2008, Traditional Owner Clans of Kattung made the historical step of 'Proclaiming their Continuing Sovereignty'. Representatives of Nations throughout the continent will be attending Climate Camp to strengthen ties with one another in the spirit of solidarity. There will be opportunities during the camp to share information, sit down and discuss what Sovereignty means for us all.

A Note to speakers, educators & presenters coming to the Camp for Climate Action: In Kattung Protocol it is respectful for anyone coming from abroad seeking to speak or work upon Kattung Lands to discuss their business and request permission of a Traditional Owner to enter their homelands. In honour of Kattung Protocol it is requested that all interested Yoree & Yoreekuriyan speakers, educators & presenters that have not received an invitation to work or speak on country contact a Pambalong Representative of the Kattungkuba Birriwaltja:
