Networking for People's Climate Action

12 Jul 2008 - 02:00
Australia/NSW

Where: Main marquee, Climate Camp!

Scores of grassroots climate action groups have sprung up across Australia over the past couple of years. They're diverse in membership and approach but they all exist to spearhead community initiatives and action to address climate change. To date there have been several cooperative initiatives undertaken by many of the groups, such as The Climate Protection Bill campaign and Walk against Warming events. In this forum we will hear from organisers and participants from different groups, learn from each other and seed some ideas for future collaboration.

Groups will give short presentations on their approach and activities, followed by small group discussion on opportunities for collaboration, and facilitated feedback time and resolutions.

Confirmed groups so far include:

  • Climate Action Newcastle - facilitating
  • Climate Action Coogee
  • Clean Energy for Eternity, Bega
  • Lismore Climate Action Group
  • Ballina Climate Action Network
